Married at First Sim Sight

Episode 2: The Weddings 

Welcome Back to Married at First Sim Sight. Our couples have been getting ready for their big day. 

Aubree: It's been really crazy! We only have a week to get ready. It's just surreal!

Mason: I can't believe I'm getting married in a week! A week! This is just crazy. I don't think I really expected them to find me a match. (laugh).

The Sims all met with their families and friends and told them the big news.  

Shawna: My parents weren't very supportive. They said, "It's not logical!" They are really unhappy. They said they aren't coming to the wedding. (shrugs).

Phoenix: I had to tell my parents over the phone. They are travelling and unfortunately won't be able to make it back in time. They said they were happy for me, though. My friends think I'm crazy, but they are busy planning a bachelor party! (laughs) 

Not all families reacted the same way.

Rose: My parents are really excited. My mom pulled out a binder she'd been keeping since I was born and started talking wedding dresses and flowers! She's really excited. They find it a little odd, that I don't know anything about my future husband, but they are really supportive!

Jaime: I won't be telling my parents. I haven't spoken to them since I left at 16 and they wouldn't be supportive anyway. 

The big day finally arrives:

First up, Aubree and Mason. 

Aubree: (waiting to enter for the ceremony): I think I'm going to be sick! I can't believe I'm doing this.  (Takes a deep breath as the music begins to play and enters). 

A smile crosses Aubree and Mason's faces as they first see each other and the ceremony proceeds.

Then the ultimate question our couples face on their wedding day: to kiss or not to kiss?

Aubree: (laughs) I don't know what came over me. I decided to just go for it. I wasn't sure how he felt about it, but he kissed me back! So, I guess it was good!

Mason: (blushes as he talks): Yeah, I was surprised! But she just leaned in and kissed me! I was glad, took the pressure of me. I mean, she is gorgeous, so I was really nervous. 

The photographer takes over the couple's time then and tries to get them to relax with each other and take some photos of their wedding day.

Photographer: They were a little stiff and uncomfortable at first, but as we went on they began to loosen up and have some fun with it.

Mason: "I liked seeing her across the table. I think this is good."

Things seem to be going well for our first couple as they settle in at their table for the reception. 

Next we have Jaime and Rose:

Rose: I'm so excited. And nervous! I don't know what to expect. I can't believe I'm going through with this!

Jaime is waiting nervously at the altar. He glances at her crowded side of the church versus his with only a few friends and wonders what he is getting himself into. 

Jaime: I looked over at her side and it was crammed with people. She clearly has a lot of family and friends and I only have a few friends, mostly people I work with. I always wanted a big family, I never thought about my wife coming from a big family!

But Jaime's fears seem to recede as he sees his bride enter.

Jaime: I was blown away. She's beautiful.

Rose: I just wasn't quite ready for the kiss. I mean, I just met him! I do think he's cute though.

Jaime: I wanted to kiss her, but she kind of turned her cheek, so...you know. I didn't want to push it...yet! (laughs)

The photographer snaps up our couple to get their wedding day shots.

Photographer: They seem like a fun couple. They were playful with each other right away, but not very comfortable touching each other yet. 

The couple decides to show their mutual love of dancing and have some fun with each other on the dance floor during the reception.

Jaime: "She's got some moves!"

Rose: "I don't know. We'll see if he can keep up with me"

And last but not least, Phoenix and Shawna.

Shawna: I have some butterflies but I'm ready to just get this over with. I want to know who I'm marrying!

While Shawna gets ready to walk down the aisle, Phoenix takes his place by the altar. He shuffles nervously as the music begins to play. 

Phoenix: I was really happy when I saw her. I've always dated blondes in the past and that was what I was expecting, but she's pretty. The matchmakers did a good job.

Shawna: Honestly, he wasn't what I was expecting. I think the hat threw me off a little. It just seemed a bit much. But he's not bad looking up close.

No kiss for this couple!

The couple seemed to be getting along better as the photographer came and pulled them away for photos!

Photographer: It took them about half a second to get comfortable and starting posing with each other. Cute couple.

Phoenix: We got a little bit of time to talk and she's really cool. I can't wait to get to know her better. 

Shawna: "His friends seemed nice--and talkative!"

Things seemed to be going well for the couple as they settled in at the reception. 

All the couples spent time getting to know each other and the friends and families. And while everything seems fine now, they are about to depart for their honeymoon. Who knows what could happen when two strangers are suddenly married? Tune in next time!
